If you're a beach bum like myself, you understand the differences between a cheap beach chair and an expensive one. While the $20 chair you bought online might have called it quits after its first summer, your expensive Tommy Bahama has probably lasted for seasons (and is likely a lot more comfortable, too). Like many people, I bought one cheap beach chair after another, but after longingly observing my friend's comfortable beach chairs - which have elaborate features like recliners, coolers, cup holders, and more - I decided an upgrade was worth the splurge. I've owned a Tommy Bahama chair for three years now, and I love it. But there's just one thing: I like my Sunflow Beach Chair ($296) just as much.
Like many of you "Shark Tank" fans out there (the TV show it was seen on), I was curious about this chair. I liked all of its gadgets and gizmos and the way it folds upright (so I don't have to make any weird contortions with my body). It's certainly as high quality as other beach chairs I've invested in, and it's quite stylish, too. The Sunflow chair gives me hotel-pool vibes - the seat's thick synthetic fabric allows a slight breeze to pass through, doesn't get too hot, and doesn't feel like it'll break on me. (Yes, it has happened to me before, and no, I don't want to talk about it.)
What I Like About the Sunflow Beach Chair
The Sunflow beach chair embodies all the qualities you look for when hunting for a top-tier chair: it's comfortable, durable, easy to carry, foldable, and reclining, and it even comes with fun attachments such as a canopy, a cup holder, and a bag. It has four recliner settings, so you can catch the sun at all angles, and its attachable canopy can be adjusted to shield you in a number of ways. While this chair has a lot of fun features to it, I'd say its most standout feature is how it's set up. Unlike other beach chairs that simply unfold, this chair has quite the format. It takes a few tries to understand, but after watching Sunflow's setup video, it'll feel like second nature. I do it all the time with a water bottle and a phone in hand, and it's easy peasy.
Besides the opening and closing tactics, another standout feature is the style. For a chair, it's certainly pretty to look at. I get tons of compliments on it from passersby, and on a recent park trip, I even had a dog jump into it (see picture below) - the ultimate seal of approval.
What's Worth Noting About the Sunflow Beach Chair
This chair is incredibly popular and jumps between being sold out and in stock all the time. If it is sold out, there are alternatives available, such as this Telescope Casual Original Mini-Sun Chaise Folding Beach Arm Chair ($137) with the additional Universal Shade Canopy ($62, originally $65). While it's not quite as attractive, it has a similar concept. Another thing worth mentioning is that the Sunflow chair's backpack straps can sometimes get in the way of opening the chair. If this happens, make sure to hold them to the side before starting the unfolding process.Who Is the Sunflow Beach Chair Best For?
This chair is best for anyone with extra money to spend who's looking for a high quality, aesthetically pleasing beach chair. It's a good chair that will last for years, but for the price, it's not for everyone.
Is the Sunflow Beach Chair Worth the Splurge?
It depends on what you prioritize. If aesthetics are important to you, this chair is definitely appealing to the eye. Its attachments are fun to use, and it's certainly an investment you'll be able to enjoy for years. There's no denying the quality of this chair, but can you get that quality in another beach chair on the market? Yes, most certainly. Can you get the cool innovations of this chair anywhere else? I don't think so - I think the chair's attachments and the way it opens separate it from its competitors. And finally, can you find a chair as good-looking as this one elsewhere? Possibly, but the price might fall in line with this one.
